Albany man pleads guilty to role in Jan. 6 Capitol attack

An Albany man has pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

Jonathan Munafo, 36, was caught on video hitting an officer with a closed fist, court documents said.

Munafo then struck the officer’s face shield and body, and ripped the shield out of the officer’s hands.

He also used a flagpole to try to break a Capitol window, prosecutors said.

Munafo is one of more than 1,000 people charged in the attack.
