Albany man to get 10 years in prison for burglary, weapons charges
An Albany man is facing 10 years in prison on burglary and weapons charges for being caught with a knife in jail after having been convicted of the same thing previously.
Elrajab Ravenna, 38, initially was arrested after he broke into a residence on Judson Street in September 2022 and assaulted a resident.
Ravenna got in trouble again on Oct. 10, 2022 after being caught with a knife at the Albany County Correctional Facility and intending to use it against another inmate.
He was convicted on Sept. 13 on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and promoting prison contraband following a jury trial.
When returning from the trial to jail, police found another knife and marijuana in his possession, according to a news release.
Ravenna pleaded guilty on Friday to burglary in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence. His plea will satisfy the weapons charges.
