Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced efforts to support Ukraine in the country’s fight against Russia on Tuesday morning.

The mayor’s office is sending vehicles and other equipment to the war-torn country. Those vehicles include recycling and forest trucks.

They are also sending firefighter gear.

“We are standing up against evil that is occurring in Ukraine and the suffering that it is causing for Ukrainian people,” Sheehan said. “That is why we created this sister city relationship with each other, knowing that there would be a time to rebuild.”

The nonprofit Ukraine Focus will help transport equipment.
