Albany Med nurses say staffing levels are unsafe
Nurses at Albany Medical Center are speaking out about unsafe staffing levels, which they say is putting their patients at risk.
Nurses told NewsChannel 13 the New York State Department of Health is launching an investigation into staffing levels at Albany Medical Center after receiving dozens of complaints from nurses tasked with more patients than they could safely care for.
Management has failed to follow the state’s staffing laws, said nurses, leading to burnout and high turnover.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to Albany Medical Center for comment. It issued the following statement, but referred additional questions to DOH.
“We — and all hospitals – are subject to planned and unplanned visits from the Department of Health. This was no different. Due to the wide amount of specialties we offer, those visits occur regularly. We have yet to hear the findings from this one.
