The Albany County Sheriff’s Office said 27-year-old Juandell L. Smith and 31-year-old Kevin R. Moore were arrested Saturday morning for illegal possession of a firearm.

Deputies were routinely patrolling around 8 a.m. Saturday when Smith and Moore were discovered with the firearm, shortly after a traffic violation.

Sheriff Craig Apple says the men were found in possession with a loaded Ruger LCP .380 semi-automatic firearm.

Investigation determined that the firearm was reported stolen from Marcy, NY on July 20, 2015, said police.

Smith and Moore were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and traffic offenses.

Authorities say they were transported to Albany County Correctional Facility and will be arraigned in Albany County Criminal Court on Sunday.
