Police Chief Eric Hawkins is leaving Albany
The city of Albany will soon be looking for a new police chief. Eric Hawkins announced that he will become police commissioner in Warren, Michigan, after six years in Albany.
Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins is leaving in December.
Hawkins has accepted a job as police commissioner at Warren Police Department in Michigan, according to Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s office.
Hawkins is Albany’s longest-serving police chief in 40 years, according to Sheehan. He joined the Albany Police Department in 2018 from Southfield, Michigan, where he worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming chief there in 2012.
