A Bronx man is accused of setting a pit bull on fire.
Albany Police said Christopher Maxwell, 34, left the 1-year-old female dog inside a crate in his residence without food or water.
When Maxwell returned, he allegedly took the dog, still in the create, to a parking lot in the area of Fourth Avenue and Franklin Street. He then poured lighter fluid on the crate and the dog and set it on fire, police said.
Police discovered the deceased dog in the crate on Feb. 24 just after 7 a.m.
Maxwell was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, arson and criminal mischief.
He is scheduled to appear in Albany City Criminal Court on Friday, March 21.
