Albany woman arrested on grand larceny, firearm charges

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 33-year-old Amanda Eichas of Albany on grand larceny and firearm charges on Monday.

Her arrest had followed an investigation and execution of a search warrant, said Sheriff Apple.

Deputies say they responded to a residence in the Town of Knox for a report regarding stolen jewelry on Saturday.

Apple says through investigation, they quickly developed Eichas to be the suspect.

They say Eichas was known to the victim whose jewelry was stolen.

Authorities say following the incident on Saturday, investigators executed a court-ordered search warrant at Eichas’ residence in Albany on Monday, where they found an illegal, loaded Ruger 9mm semi-automatic firearm.

The Sheriff’s Office says Eichas was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, one count of criminal possession of a firearm, and one count of first-degree failure to safely store firearms.

Eichas was released on appearance tickets and she is due to appear in the Town of Knox Criminal Court on November 6, and due to appear in the City of Albany Criminal Court on November 13.
