Albany woman pleads not guilty to intentionally hitting, killing man with car

An Albany woman pleaded not guilty on Monday to intentionally hitting and killing her neighbor with her car. Brittany Hawkins, 34, is charged with second-degree murder in the Oct. 31 death of 28-year-old Daquan Phillips. Hawkins allegedly drove up onto the sidewalk and hit Phillips before crashing into an apartment at the Upper Sky Line Apartments. It happened around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Lark Drive and Manning Boulevard.

Hawkins and the victim had been arguing before the assault, investigators said.

The victim died the next day. He and Hawkins had been arguing before the assault, police said.
