Albany woman speaks out about alleged stalker

An Albany woman is speaking out about concerns over her alleged stalker. That suspect has been arrested before, accused of concealing a human corpse.

“Sick individual. I don’t what he’s capable of doing. That’s the scary part.”

Angel Anes has an order of protection against Steven Herbst.

“I just wanted to document that he’s shown up at my work, talking about people had guns. Just very frightening. Come to my home, trying to get into the apartment. He assumed that we had a relationship in his mind, but I assured him that we didn’t and no I don’t want that, I don’t miss that, stay away from me, plenty of times.”

She says that it has changed her life.

“Fear, a lot of fear, anxiety, anger.”

The order of protection shows a charge of stalking.

Albany police confirm Herbst was arrested on March 3 in connection with an original charge of stalking.

But Herbst has been arrested before. In July, badly decomposed human remains were found at his apartment building on Sheridan Avenue in Albany.

The person was eventually identified as 42-year-old Tabitha King, who had been reported missing.

An autopsy showed no signs of foul play.

Herbst was charged with concealment of a human corpse.

“Sick to my stomach,” said Angel. “I felt sorry for Tabitha, if I’m allowed to say her name. I felt very sorry for her, may she rest in peace.”

She says she’s sharing her story to try to protect others.

“It’s more important that if there’s a next victim, if there’s a next Miss King out there, if there’s a next vulnerable person, it’s very important to share the story so we can keep each other safe.”
