Alleged stolen guns have Rensselaer County teens in trouble
North Greenbush Police have removed two illegal handguns off the street, they said.
The investigation started back on Oct. 17. A 14-year-old Columbia High School student posted photos of himself on social media holding guns. It turned out one of the guns was stolen from a Troy home, police said.
During the investigation, police learned that the gun was later stolen by a 16-year-old, they said.
The Rensselaer High School student was later arrested.
Police said they found the stolen loaded handgun during a search, plus an additional military-style pistol, which had a fully automatic function and extended magazine.
Right now, the teen is only charged with robbery and grand larceny. More charges could be coming for both teens in the upcoming days, investigators said.
