Amsterdam man sentenced for attempted burglary, child endangerment

A man from Amsterdam has been sentenced to seven years in state prison.

Anthony Ropas, 27, was convicted of attempted burglary, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.

Ropas chased a neighbor with a knife in May of last year, and the victim was carrying a 2-year-old child at the time, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said.

Ropas then tried to break down the door to an apartment, according to the district attorney.

He was arrested late last year, accused of distributing incident material to minor, and other related crimes.
