Amsterdam Police seek to question people in connection to theft

Amsterdam Police investigating a break in at a local Toy Store

Police estimate 15 to 20,000 dollars in merchandise was stolen from the store this past weekend.

Amsterdam Police are looking for people in connection to a burglary of around $15,000 in merchandise.

Police said they are investigating a break-in at the Upstate CollectibleZ toy store at Riverfront Center.

Matthew Zampella Co-Owns the toy store with his wife Lynnae Zampella.

“They took the graded cards off the wall, everything out of the back room. They took cash. They rummaged through almost every room in here,” Matthew said.

Matthew said they came multiple times throughout the weekend and left items missing around the store and no cash in the register.

“I’m not sure how I’m going to pay the rent, to be honest with you, to the mall right now,” said Matthew. “This is completely disgusting. I never thought this would happen in Amsterdam or anywhere, really. Like, you know, to a toy store.”

Matthew’s wife Lyanne is heartbroken over the theft and urging for these individuals to take responsibility.

When detectives responded to the scene over the weekend to collect evidence, they found evidence of a break in. There are three persons of interest in the case, police said.

Anyone who knows who these people are is asked to call 518-842-1100.
