Amtrak services – suspended last week because of a train derailment in Montgomery County – were expected to resume on Monday.
A freight train of 157 cars derailed near the intersection of Chapman Drive and Route 5 on Friday morning. It was on its way from Selkirk to Buffalo.
Local hazmat teams were on the scene to confirm that there were no dangerous leaks, emergency management officials told NewsChannel 13.
Amtrak’s Empire, Lake Shore, and Maple Leaf trains were out of service this weekend. However, tickets were available again on Monday.
