Anti-violence activist accused of criminal sex act

The anti-violence activist already facing charges in a shootout is now accused of criminal sex act. Dontie Mitchell, 44, allegedly had forcibly sexual contact with a victim between Nov. 26, 2021, and Feb. 1, 2022, according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office. The alleged incident happened on Quail Street in Albany.

The anti-violence activist already facing charges in a shootout is now accused of criminal sex act.

Dontie Mitchell, 44, allegedly had forcible sexual contact with a victim between Nov. 26, 2021, and Feb. 1, 2022, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. The alleged incident happened on Quail Street in Albany.

Mitchell was arraigned Wednesday on one count of criminal sex act and sent back to Albany County Jail. He is due back in court on Aug. 23.

Mitchell is already charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm in connection with a Cohoes shooting last August that killed Shieer Leggett.
