Anti-violence advocate indicted in Cohoes murder case

An Albany man has been indicted in connection with the shooting death of another man in Cohoes on Friday evening.

Dontie Mitchell, 43, has been indicted with one count of murder, one count of criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts for reckless endangerment.

The indictment alleges that last Friday, Mitchell, caused the death of Shieer Leggett while on Main Street in the City of Cohoes.

In June, NewsChannel13 interviewed Mitchell about a youth program he started, which aims to help kids stay on the right path.

Mitchell is currently being held in the Albany County Correctional Facility.
