Arrest made in Albany’s first homicide of 2025

Leonardo Guzman, 34, from Schenectady has been arrested in connection with the city's first homicide of 2025, according to Albany Police.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Leonardo Guzman, 34, from Schenectady has been arrested in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2025, according to Albany Police.

Guzman has been charged with murdering Dewitt Miller, 30, on Central Ave. Thursday around 5:40 p.m.

Police say they were responding to reports of a shooting when they discovered Miller, who had been shot in the groin. Miller was taken to Albany Medical Center but ultimately died from the injury.

Guzman was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and is being held at Albany County Jail.
