Arrest made in suspicious death on Sheridan Ave in Albany

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Steven J. Herbst, 42, in the investigation of a suspicious death that happened at 301 Sheridan Avenue in Albany.

On Thursday, investigators from the Sheriff’s Office obtained information about the deceased body at the address in Albany, which a search warrant was executed.

During the search, decomposed human remains were found.

Police say an autopsy was done, which revealed no signs of foul play.

Sheriff Apple provided an update via social media Saturday morning, saying that they believe the deceased body was a female, wearing a green t-shirt, size 14 jeans, and tie-dye Crocs shoes. He says they have sent off DNA for a possible match, but they will not know for certain on the identity for a few weeks.

The resident of 301 Sheridan Avenue, Herbst, was arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility with no bail.
