Bennington County man accused of assault

A Bennington County man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an acquaintance.

Vermont State Police were dispatched to a residence on Route 7 in the town of Pownal for a disturbance.

An investigation determined that 53-year-old Dennis M. Young, of Shaftsbury, assaulted a person and damaged property, police said.

Young was charged with simple assault and unlawful mischief. He was issued a citation and is due back in court on Dec. 18.

One of the victims, Nathaniel Serre, 33, of Bennington had an outstanding warrant on failure to appear on a driving while under the influence charge. He was taken to Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
