Berkshire County man charged with murder in sister’s killing
A Berkshire County man was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of his sister.
Paul Menard, 65, of Windsor, walked into the Massachusetts State Police station in Cheshire and reported that he shot 62-year-old Monique Menard at her residence in Hinsdale, the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office said.
Police responded and found Monique Menard lying face down outside the residence near her car, according to prosecutors.
Evidence recovered at the scene corroborated Paul Menard’s account. He shot his sister once in the front, once in the back and once in the back of the head, the DA’s Office said.
Menard told police he used two guns after the first one jammed. He waited 20 minutes before driving to the police station to report the alleged murder and did not call 911. He was cooperative with police.
Menard was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court and is being held without bail.
