Albany County leaders broke ground Friday on the county’s first solar array.
The Albany County Solar Project is located on five acres at 897 Watervliet Shaker Road in the town of Colonie.
Nearly 2.6 million kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable electricity will be generated each year.
The county will buy that electricity – and be reimbursed for the power generated on company property.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2024.
