The day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, is the traditional launch of the holiday shopping season.
With Thanksgiving coming late this year, there is less time to shop. That might explain why people were so anxious to hit the stores.

There was quite a bit of foot traffic at Stuyvesant Plaza in Guilderland, with a steady flow of shoppers who were browsing, buying and bargain hunting.

Many stores were offering Black Friday deals, huge discounts, and other start-of-the-holiday-season specials.
