Boy, 16, dies in apparent Greene County drowning

A 16-year-old Brooklyn boy has died after apparently drowning while swimming with friends in Greene County.

The boy jumped off the ledge with a friend at Fawn’s Leap, in Haines Falls, around 3:20 Tuesday afternoon, investigators said.

The strong water current began to sweep them away.

Another swimmer tried to help, but was only able to get to one swimmer.

Rescuers then found the boy’s body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation continues.
