Body recovered from inside of the car that was found in Hudson River
Troy Police tell us that a body was recovered from inside the car that was found in the Hudson River early Saturday morning.
Assistant Police Chief Steven Barker says the vehicle has also been recovered.
The individual was identified as an 89-year-old male.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the 89-year-old had experienced a medical issue, which caused the loss of control, resulting in the vehicle entering the Hudson River, said police.
Barker says the investigation is ongoing, and they are awaiting an autopsy before making further conclusions.
We received information from police on Saturday that they got the report around 7:30 a.m. for a vehicle in the river in the area of 691 River Street. The car had struck an electrical pole, causing wires to fall to the ground and resulting in a fire.
