News release, police radio transmissions paint different picture of UAlbany officer shooting
ALBANY – At about the same time early Tuesday morning when a University at Albany police officer was struck by a car and that officer was firing off two rounds from his service weapon, the car was fleeing the uptown campus.
That incident led to an all out police pursuit through the city of Albany that involved University police, city police, and county sheriff’s deputies.
The pursuit ended when four male suspects abandoned their car in the parking lot at Albany Medical Center and ran inside the emergency department, where they were apprehended by police.
According to a University Police news release, one of their officers, a 12-year veteran, suffered an injured foot.
Meanwhile, the man police say was driving the car, 19-year old Anthony Taylor of Albany, has been charged with three felonies, three misdemeanors, and several other traffic violations.
Two others are also facing misdemeanor charges.
