Capital Region bar, restaurant owners band together to stop drunken driving
The War Room tavern and the Lark Street Tavern in Albany are forming a new organization called Bars Against Drunk Driving.
One local group of bar and restaurant owners is doing what they can to prevent people from drunken driving.
The War Room Tavern and The Lark Street Tavern in Albany are forming a new organization called: Bars Against Drunk Driving.
“We’re starting this new organization that we hope becomes a national organization,” said Todd Shapiro, with the War Room Tavern. “It’s going to start in Albany. We’re going to get dozens, if not hundreds of bars in the local area to come and join. We’re going to have meetings once a month, and we’re going to teach people how to drink responsibly.”
The organization will be paying for taxi and Uber services for anyone who has had too much to drink.
The War Room Tavern will also have a voluntary breathalyzer behind the bar for customers to use if they want.
