Capital Region to commemorate 9/11
Amsterdam
The city of Amsterdam and Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing & Recreation Department, will be hosting a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.
The event will be held at Riverlink Park at 9:30 a.m.
It will be streamed on the Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing & Recreation Department Facebook Page.
Glens Falls
The Glens Falls Fire Department will remember the lives lost at a ceremony at 9:03 a.m. at the fire station at 134 Ridge St.
Halfmoon
The town of Halfmoon will host its 21st annual Patriot Day ceremony in Abele Memorial Park. The event begins with a procession at 5:45 p.m. and the ceremony at 6 p.m. It will commemorate the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the bravery of first responders and the resilience of our nation.
Latham
The New York State Public Employees Federation will hold a ceremony to remember the 40 members of the union who died on 9/11. The event will take place at 9:45 a.m. at the memorial outside the PEF headquarters at 1168-70 Troy-Schenectady Road.
Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs will hold its annual 9/11 Commemoration and Remembrance Ceremony at High Rock Park. The ceremony begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. by the Tempered by Memory Sculpture. The piece is made up of five pieces of twisted steel from the 2001 terrorist attacks and was created by Noah Savitz in collaboration with John Van Alstine.
Schenectady
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will host his annual memorial service. It will take place at 6 p.m. at the Engine Hill Community Center within The Bridge Christian Church at 735 Crane St. The keynote speaker is Pedro Rosa, a retired correction officer for the New York City Department of Correction who was a first responder to the attack.

Troy
A ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. in 9/11 Memorial Park at 112th Street and 1st Avenue. The city of Troy will be joined by the Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and Troy Police Department.
Watervliet
The city of Watervliet will hold a ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Watervliet-Colonie Elks Lodge.
The guest speaker will be Col. Jason Schultz, commander of the Watervliet Arsenal.
Warrensburg
A 9/11 Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Bandstand.
Pittsfield, Mass.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448 will host a brief ceremony in recognition of the 23rd Anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States and in honor of the five Berkshire County veterans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event will take place at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park at 295 South St.
