Case involving dismantling of memorial honoring former Marine back in court
Two people charged with illegally taking down a memorial honoring a deceased former Marine were in court on Monday evening.
As NewsChannel 13 reported earlier this month, Nicholas Camilli was speeding on his motorcycle on Old Niskayuna Road in Colonie, when he hit a car driven by an 80-year-old man.
The driver survived, but Camilli died.
Camilli’s family set up a memorial at the crash site.
NewsChannel 13 spoke to the family earlier this month, who said the memorial was dismantled and removed a number of times.
Two people, Jim Morrell Jr. and his wife Megan, were caught on camera several times removing the memorial. They are related to the man who hit Camilli.
They’re both charged with petit larceny. They pleaded not guilty and were released on their own recognizance. They are due back in court in six weeks.
