Cash for Coats Drive kicking off
The 2024 Cash for Coats drive is set to kick off Oct. 1.
Donations will be collected to buy new winter clothing items for Albany kids in need. The drive is a partnership with The Palace Theatre, Lodge’s Department Store, City of Albany School District, and others.
It runs through Nov. 1.
“Many, many, many of our young people get to school by foot,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “They are not getting on a bus. They’re walking to school, and we need those coats. They need to make sure that they’re warm and that they’re able to get to school safely.”
Donations can be made by texting 518COATS to 41444 or online.
They can be made in-person at Albany City Hall at 24 Eagle St. and Lodge’s Department Store at 75 N. Pearl Street.
Donations can also be mailed to:Cash for Coats, 24 Eagle St., City Hall, Mezz M-252, Albany, NY 12207.
Make checks payable to Cash for Coats/Lodge’s Department Store. Donors who donate over $25 will be invited to a special thank you event at the Palace Theatre.
