Cause of double fatal fire in Bennington County ruled accidental

The cause of the New Year’s Day fire that killed a mother and her 12-day-old son in Bennington County was accidental, investigators said Wednesday.

Nicole Grogan, 22, and her son Oliver Stratton died in the fire at 1337 Chunks Brook Road in the town of Sandgate. It started around 11:30 a.m. and people were trapped inside.

Two other people were burned in the fire.

The specific cause is still under investigation.
