Ceremony in Albany spotlights crime victims
This week is Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
A ceremony of remembrance was held in Albany on Tuesday.
The names of crime victims, some of them survivors, others who didn’t survive, have been attached to American flags and planted in the ground at Academy Park.
It is an annual ritual filled with purpose and poignancy.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said at the ceremony it’s a reminder that none of us stands alone. This year’s theme “kinship” speaks to the deep bond that unites us — not only through shared experiences but through shared humanity.
