A charge of criminal personation against Dennis Drue has been dismissed.
Drue was arrested last month after allegedly giving a fake name to officers who found him in the Crossings Park in Colonie after hours.
Drue spent nine years in prison after killing two high school students and seriously injuring two others while speeding drunk and high on the Northway in 2012.
NewsChannel 13 has learned Drue’s attorney pointed out when the officer gave him “one final chance” to come clean, Drue eventually gave the correct name.
The judge then dismissed the case Monday night in Colonie Town Court.
Michael Stewart, whose son died in that crash, told NewsChannel 13 he is “deeply disappointed” by the outcome of this recent case.
