A crash downstate killed a man from Clifton Park.

The crash happened early Thursday morning on the Thruway in Tarrytown, Westchester County.
Richard Simmons, 53, drove his tractor-trailer off the road just before the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, investigators said.

He hit the guiderail and a storage building. His truck then went up in flames.
Simmons was killed.

State Police are still looking into what caused him to crash.
