Colonie man involved in standoff charged with harassment

Police have released the name of a man involved in standoff in Colonie on Monday.

State Police received a complaint from a Halfmoon resident reporting that William R. Jones, 37, had called them and made threats to harm them and damage property. Police found Jones at his Boght Road home near Guptill’s Arena.

When troopers interviewed him at around 5 p.m., police said Jones became uncooperative and threatened troopers before barricading himself in the home. After a short standoff and negotiations, Jones came out of the house.

Jones was charged with aggravated second-degree harassment. He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
