Five suspects identified in Dick’s House of Sport assault and robbery; aftermath of scene released

Police: 5 suspects in Dick’s House of Sport Robbery

The suspects have been identified by Colonie Police. The suspects are aged 15-21 years.

Several suspects in a violent robbery at Dick’s House of Sport are now tied to a shooting in the area of Frederick and Central avenues.

Investigators gave an update on Wednesday morning.

The group is accused of hitting a father and son with baseball bats in order to steal their new Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

Both victims are expected to be OK, investigators said.

In Dick’s House of Sport, several of these suspects stole a pair of Air Jordans from a family, beating them with the baseball bats they grabbed off store racks.

Police say a photo of Lyric Jones surfaced on snapchat with the shoes they stole from a father and son at Dick's.

The shots fired incident was a Facebook marketplace sale that went wrong.

It also turned into a robbery to steal sneakers, and police say shots were fired to do so.

“I’m baffled, like probably all of you are, that people would be that brazen to commit these acts that they’d be willing to shoot and strike individual people with baseball bats over shoes,” Colonie Police Chief James Gerace said.

Gerace said they really got to the bottom of these cases thanks to the help of the community, and calling in their tips to police.

A vigilant community helped police in their investigation, according to Gerace, giving investigators valuable leads.

“Our detectives worked around the clock, sometimes for over 24 hours without sleep, attempting to take the ball that was handed off from our citizens and put it into the end zone and bring these suspects to justice,” said Gerace.
