Community opens hearts for Selkirk family devastated by fire

The Selkirk Fire Commissioner says the show of support for the Arnold family has been overwhelming the last two days.

The show of support for a Selkirk family who recently had a devastating fire has been overwhelming over the past two days, the Selkirk fire commissioner said.

Kelly Arnold, a Coeymans police sergeant, and her husband, Michael, just returned from four months doing hurricane cleanup in Florida. They have now lost their home.

Despite several donations, the family is still in need of things like laundry detergent, dog food, and gift cards for grocery stores.

Sgt. Arnold also reached out to NewsChannel 13, saying she is looking for a four-bedroom house that takes pets while they get back on their feet. They refuse to go anywhere without their two dogs.

The next donation event is March 2 at Swifty’s in Albany.
