Convicted conman arrested again after skipping sentencing

Convicted conman Chad Nichols was arrested again after skipping sentencing

A convicted conman who skipped out on his sentencing for a contracting fraud has finally been caught.

And he is now being charged in a new crime.

Chad J. Nichols, 47, was arrested by State Police on Tuesday at around 12:15 p.m., according to the police public information website. The Albany County District County Attorney’s confirmed the arrest and said that he is scheduled to appear in Albany County Court on Thursday.

Nichols was supposed to be sentenced on Feb. 13 on three charges that included grand larceny charge and criminal personation. He faced up to 14 years in prison. He did not show up.

As 13Invesitgates reported, Korinne Van Patten, of Guilderland, had hired him to fix up her home. He was supposed to renovate two bathrooms, a kitchen and a deck. However, he never completed the work, and racked up $84,000 in payments and credit card charges. That wiped out her entire savings and retirement funds.

A warrant had been issued for Nichols’s arrest. Nichols was on the run.

Nichols’ attorney had said previously that his client has an Adderall addiction and is apologetic for his actions.

Nichols is currently being held in Albany County Jail.
