Chad Nichols is back in police custody after he was on the run for two months. He was in court on a new charge of bail jumping.
A convicted conman who skipped out on his sentencing in February for contractor fraud has finally appeared in an Albany County courtroom.
Chad Nichols was being arraigned on the charge of bail jumping. Nichols’ attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
Nichols also committed more crimes while on the run, investigators said.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, when he didn’t show up to his sentencing on Feb. 13 for grand larceny and criminal personation.
He faced up to 14 years in prison, and now could face even more time for bail jumping.
As NewsChannel 13’s Tessa Bentulan has reported, Nichols stole $84,000 from Korinne Van Patten.
He pretended to be a contractor, telling Van Patten he would renovate several rooms in her home. He did none of that.
