Crash causes two-hour delay for Ravena Coeymans Selkirk Schools; closes high school

COEYMANS, N.Y. (WNYT)- The driver of a Penske rental box truck crashed into a utility pole around 1943 US Route 9W in Coeymans Monday around 5:50 a.m., causing the Ravena Coeymans Selkirk School District to be placed on a two-hour delay, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
The school district then said later Monday morning that the high school would remain closed.
The box truck driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. The crash caused wires to fall onto the road and is still under investigation.
The Sheriff’s office was asking motorists to avoid the area of Route 9W where the accident happened. The road was expected to be reopened by 8:30 a.m. Monday.
