Two people have serious injuries after a head-on crash on Route 66 in Wynantskill Thursday morning.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. between State Route 355 and the Poestenkill town line.
The drivers were the only people in either car, investigators said.

One driver had to be removed, and both were taken to Albany Medical Center, North Greenbush Police said.

The cause is under investigation, but police don’t think speed or alcohol are factors, they said.

No names have been released. 

The road was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
