All 2,600 students who attend Schenectady High School had to go through mandatory security screenings starting Monday.

NewsChannel 13 showed you the new weapons scanners and how they work last week. Bags will be placed on conveyor belts every morning. Students will then walk through metal detectors.
The reason for this additional safety step comes after guns were found in two separate incidents at two different middle schools in the district.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to the district to see if everything ran smoothly on Monday morning. It was a bit more slow-moving than they would have liked, they said. However, they told NewsChannel 13 they are going to address some of those concerns come Tuesday.
