Clean up began Tuesday on the pile of debris left behind after a collapsing Colonie house was demolished last month.

Neighbors have been complaining about the foul-smelling trash since the house on Corthell Street was torn down.

The town said they were following state regulations to deal with asbestos in the debris. They’ll first need to set up air monitoring equipment around the site to make sure no hazardous materials are escaping.

Crews worked all day Tuesday. They will return on Wednesday.
