Man pleads guilty to rape after one-day delay
A defendant who declined to admit to a rape charge Thursday because of a camera in court pleaded guilty Friday – after a judge denied NewsChannel 13's request for media access.
Siatar K. Creech, 36, formerly of Northumberland, admitted in Saratoga County Court to having sex with a child under the age of 17 multiple times in the town of Moreau in July 2022.
Siatar K. Creech, 36, formerly of Northumberland, admitted in Saratoga County Court to having sex with a child under the age of 17 multiple times in the town of Moreau in July 2022.
Creech appeared in court on Thursday to plead guilty. However, his attorney told the judge that he was uncomfortable that there was a news camera present.
NewsChannel 13’s request for video access to Friday’s hearing was denied. Creech pleaded to use of a child in a sexual performance and third-degree rape.
Under a negotiated plea deal discussed previously, Creech would receive a maximum of 6 years in prison.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 27 at 10:30 a.m.
