Democratic dairy farmer says he’s ready for uphill battle to replace Stefanik
An upstate New York dairy farmer is running to succeed U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st Congressional District.
Blake Gendebien says it’s not about being a Republican or Democrat. It’s about being a helpful member of the community.
In an interview at NewsChannel 13 on Friday, Gendebien shared why he should be the voters’ choice.
As the Democratic candidate, Gendebien has an uphill battle in NY-21. Republicans have a big enrollment advantage. However, Gendebien says he’s not offering politics. He’s offering solutions.
“I have received letters from livestock feed companies saying, ‘Hey, you better expect your grain costs to go up,’ because we receive grain from Canada and then it’s resold to farmers locally, and when our costs go up, costs go up at the grocery store for people at the dinner table,” he said. “Affordability is a key message here, and as a dairy farmer, it’s time we sent a farmer to Congress who actually understands.”
The 21st Congressional District is New York’s largest district, geographically speaking. It includes Saratoga, Fulton, Warren, Washington, and the counties stretching up to the Canadian border.
As NewsChannel 13 has been reporting, Stefanik is expected to be confirmed soon to be President Donald Trump’s United Nations ambassador.
