Dennis Drue arrested on criminal impersonation charge in Colonie

The man on parole for a crash that killed two high school students in 2012 has been arrested again.

Colonie Police arrested Dennis Drue on Wednesday and charged him with criminal impersonation.

Police say he was in the Crossings Park in Colonie past park hours and gave an officer a fake name.

In 2012, Drue was driving recklessly and under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he slammed into the back of an SUV on the Northway, killing two Shenendehowa High School students, Deanna Rivers and Chris Stewart, and injuring two others.

He served nine years in prison and was released on parole in 2023.

Drue is due back in court on April 2.

The Times Union was first to report this new arrest.
