Designs released for upgrades to Albany International Airport
New renderings for upgrades to Albany International Airport have been released.
The project is being funded with $60 million from Gov. Kathy Hochul’s $230 million Upstate Airport Development and Revitalization Competition.
The drawings show the new passenger waiting areas that are being constructed.
“Airports are gateways to their local communities and important economic engines for Upstate New York,” said Hochul in a statement. “We are doing all we can to ensure they are ready for the challenges of the 21st century.”
Additional improvements will include updates to the baggage claim and concession areas, LED lighting, conference facilities and a new play zone for kids and a multisensory calming room.
The last terminal redesign was more than 25 years ago.
