The DMV is making it easier to get a real ID identification – without making a trip to the office.

The deadline for New Yorkers to sign up for a real enhanced ID is May 7, 2025. On Tuesday, the DMV expanded the availability of an online pre-screening tool for applications.

Customers can make sure their applications are accurate and complete before going to a DMV office to submit documents and get their photo taken.
