DMV seeks to recruit former Shop Rite employees
Shop Rite employees who lost their jobs are encouraged to apply for positions at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
The DMV is holding a job fair on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the agency’s headquarters at 6 Empire State Plaza.
About 600 Shop Rite employees lost their jobs with the closing of the stores in Albany, Colonie, Slingerlands, Niskayuna and North Greenbush. DMV currently has motor vehicle representative positions available throughout the agency.
To submit a resume or for additional information, interested Shop Rite employees may email the DMV at: DMV.SM.CAREERS@DMV.NY.GOV.
“We are always looking for people who are passionate about customer service, and these people have been on the front lines of the industry,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder said in a statement. “We know the timing of the ShopRite store closures just ahead of the holiday season is unfortunate, and we want to give these people an opportunity to rejoin the workforce as quickly as possible.”
