Essex County man accused of threatening to kill President Biden

A 19-year-old Essex County man is accused of threatening to kill President Joe Biden.

Troy Kelly, of Crown Point, allegedly responded to a post by Biden on X that included the sentence: “Gonna put a bullet in your head if I ever catch you,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Secret Service investigated and determined that Kelly was the owner of the account and interviewed him at his home. When agents asked Kelly if he still wanted to kill President Biden, he allegedly told them: “If I could, I would.”

Kelly was arrested Tuesday and arraigned in U.S. District Court in Albany. He was detained pending scheduled for June 28.

If convicted, Kelly faces a maximum term of 5 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
