Ex-NXIVM leader faces setback in request for new trial
Former NXIVM leader Keith Raniere has faced another setback in his attempts for a new trial.
A judge has rejected Raniere’s motion for post-conviction discovery. That is evidence that existed at the time of the trial, but was only discovered after the conclusion of the trial. The evidence is tied to Raniere’s child exploitation and child pornography acts.
These acts were part of the racketeering charge he was convicted on in June 2019.
The judge also ordered the court be informed whether Raniere plans to file a reply by the end of the month.
